Why the change? Well, over the past couple of years, I’ve built and grown Tunitas into what I had originally wanted for my bike bag company. Unfortunately my vision then is no longer what I want now. I feel stuck within the confines of the look and feel of Tunitas Carryall and it’s stifling me creatively.

 

Being an Industrial Designer, I love the process of designing and being creative and I want to expand what I can create under the Tunitas brand. I realized that I need to pivot away from exclusively making bike bags and open it up to other soft goods. With this I no longer feel like I have to keep up with all the other amazing bike bag makers/brands out there. I have more creative freedom to explore techniques, fabrics and design around other things outside of bikes that I’m interested in.

 

Now as Tunitas Creative, I have a broader scope of what Tunitas is and can be. My vision for Tunitas Creative is to be a soft goods design studio that is a creative extension of my professional industrial design practice. I also hope to collaborate with other artists and designers in the future.

 

As Tunitas Creative, I am designing and releasing products in small batches, and if there’s enough demand, I’ll make more. If not, then that item will be deemed a limited release. It keeps things interesting for me to be able to cycle through and experiment with designs instead of having to make the same products over and over again. Though I will always keep certain ‘core’ items in rotation available (like all the basket bags!).
